Too many lawyers with no incentive

Posted in by Matty B. @ Oct 10, 2007

After being witness to a recent lawsuit, I’ve noticed a few things.  The first being that the only incentive for a lawyer is the money.  Every lawyer seems to charge an insane amount of money for their services.  The best part is that they get paid no matter what.  So if you think about it, why should they care about the case?  They have no stake in it and get paid regardless of the outcome.  Reputation might be one of the only factors that comes into play, but I haven’t heard of too many lawyers displaying their wins and losses.  We need to create some sort of law that says if a lawyer loses, that his/her hourly rate is brought down to minimum wage.  This ought to give these people initiative to take stock in people’s cases.

That’s just my two cents.
